Astros play in FABL Playoffs on 7/16, 7/17 and 7/18 beating the NY Thunder on 7/16 7-2, losing to the LI Lions on 7/17 3-2 and the Brentwood Braves on 7/18 14-8.

Thursday 7/11 - The Brentwood Braves rally for a 6-5 victory over the Astros after trailing 4-0 after 4 innings of play. Keith Ezersky with a 2 run triple and sac fly along with Dave Bernardi who adds a triple, run scoring single and BB in his 3 plate appearances are the bright spots on the offensive side in a somewhat disappointing effort by the team.

Tuesday 7/8 - Astros defeat Brentwood Braves 7-2 as Connor Henson (W) 4 IP/4 hits/2 runs and Chris Pyz (S) 3 hitless in relief with 5 K's team up in a fantastic effort on the rubber. The deciding blow was a 2 run HR by Mike Rahn in the 4th inning to put the team back on top after the Braves took a 2-1 lead in the top half of the 4th. PJ Lenz adds a 2 run HR in the 5th to put it out of reach and Ryan Rusoff (RBI) singles and doubles.

Sunday 7/7 - The Astros make it back onto the field after a few rainouts and look to rebound after a tough DH loss to the Dix Hills Dodgers the previous Sunday. The Astros prevail 5-3 with a gutsy win over the Astros west team as Erik Kondak (W) gets the job done with 6 2/3 innings of work allowing 3 runs (2 earned) and Nick Lobello (S) gets the final out with the tying run on 2B. AJ Gallo with 2 OF assists, a single, triple and RBI is fantastic on both sides as is Nick Lobello who drives in 2 runs with his 3 hits which includes a 2B.

Sunday 6/30 - The Astros and Dix Hills Dodgers hook-up in 2 close ballgames but we come away with a pair of tough losses in the DH and lose both ends 1-0 and 2-0. In the opener, Erik Kondak (ND) throws 8 scoreless innings in a fantastic effort as the Astros give up a 1 out walk-off HR in the bottom of the 9th in a tough beat. In the nightcap, James McKenna (L) certainly does a good enough job only allowing a pair of 2 out, none on runs in the 3rd inning in his 5 innings of work but our bats couldn't plate any runs in a 2-0 defeat. Nick Lobello grinds out 3 singles in his 7 AB's as the lone Astro bat in the order who could get anything done on what was a very quiet offensive output by the Astros.

Thursday 6/27- The Astros win their lucky 13th in a row defeating the Diamond Spikes 10-7 behind the bat of Ryan Rusoff (3 RBI) who homers and singles, Dave Bernardi (3 RBI) with a 2 run single and sac fly and John Eyerman and Eric Ezersky each chip in with 2 singles. Thomas Trifaro (W) 5 IP / 3 earned and Nick Lobello (S) 2 IP / 1 run combine to get the job done on the mound.

Tuesday 6/25 - The Astros win 12-6 despite sloppy defensive play accounting for 5 unearned Thunder runs. Connor Henson (W) hangs in there thru 5 innings and picks up his defense with another workmanlike performance on the rubber as Dillon Burke throws 2 scoreless to close it out. The bats remain hot as Mike Rahn (RBI) homers and singles, CJ Gerdowsky (2 RBI) doubles and singles twice and Eric Ezersky singles twice and doubles.

Chris Pyz (W) goes 5 innings allowing 1 earned and Thomas Trifaro (S) throws the final 2 allowing a run.

Saturday 6/22 - Astros take both ends of the DH vs the NY Thunder 16-2 and 10-8. In the opener we club out 17 hits behind Connor Henson (W) - 4 IP / 2 runs / 3 hits / 5 K's. In the nightcap the Astros trail 8-1 after 4 1/2 innings of play and rally for 3 in the 5th and 6 in the 6th to take a 10-8 lead into the 7th inning. The big blow a 3 run triple by Joe Tursi to tie the ballgame at 8 and then a double by Danny Muller to put the team ahead to stay. Erik Kondak (W) allows 2 runs and 2 hits in his 3.1 innings of relief in yet another fine performance on the rubber.

Thursday 6/20 - The Astros continue their winning ways behind the Machine James McKenna who goes the distance allowing 3 singles with 5 K's in his 2nd shutout of the season as the Astros defeat the Stingaz 3-0 for 7 wins in a row. John Eyerman and Ryan Cacchioli deliver run scoring doubles and Booby Okeefe a run scoring single.

Monday 6/17 - Astros extend winning streak to 6 games with hard fought 2-1 win over Diamond Spikes. Erik Kondak (W) throws 5 innings allowing 3 hits and 1 run in a solid effort and Connor Henson (S) finishes with 2 scoreless allowing a single. Nick Lobello with run scoring singles in the 1st & 3rd innings accounts for the Astros offense.

Sunday 6/16 - Astros defeat Queens Stingaz 6-0 behind Chris Pyz who throws the 4 hit shutout striking out 8 Stingaz. CJ Gerdowsky singles twice with a sac fly and 3 RBI, Ryan Cacchioli singles twice and doubles with an RBI and Ryan Rusoff singles and doubles in his 2 AB's.

Erik Kondak (S) works thru a bases loaded no out 6th inning jam allowing a single run as Ryan Rusoff pulls off a brilliant unassisted game saving DP with a diving catch off a deflected line drive. Andrew Stella plays a solid OF with 3 fantastic plays in LF, on the offense Nick Lobello and CJ Gerdowsky each deliver RBI sac flies and PJ Lenz singles twice.

Thursday 6/6 - Astros defeat Diamond Spikes behind James McKenna (W) who allows 1 earned in 5 innings work, Erik Kondak (S) finishes with 2 scoreless. PJ Lenz delivers key 2 run double to put Astros ahead 3-2 after trailing 2-0.

Tuesday 6/4 - We defeat the Astros West team 8-5 as Nick Petrella (W) goes 4 innings allowing 3 hits, 2 runs and striking out 5. Ryan Rusoff has 3 hits, 2 RBI and a BB in his 4 AB's and the Ezersky's each contribute a key hit driving home 2 runs apiece.

Saturday 6/1 - Not much good to report, on a hot steamy Saturday the Long Island Astros drop a pair to the Dix Hills Dodgers 5-1 and 11-2. We look forward to a rematch vs the Dodgers in a few weeks as I am sure the outcome will be a more competitive effort on our part.

Thursday 5/30 - Long Island Astros defeat Diamond Spikes 3-0 in their season opener as Connor Henson (W) goes the distance allowing 7 hits while striking out 7 in the shutout. Nick Lobello doubles home 2 runs in the 3rd inning which is all the team needs behind Henson.
