Game 1 - Long Island Astros 11 Schenectady 0  WP James McKenna

The Astros dominate in all aspects and run rule the team from Schenectady 11-0 in 5 innings. James Mckenna (W) throws 5 shutout innings in the shutout as Nick Lobello drives home 3 runs with 2 singles and a double and PJ Lenz singles twice also with 3 RBI. Also contributing are AJ Gallo who scores 3 runs with 2 singles, Eric Wiener singles twice and walks twice with 2 RBI and 3 runs and Andrew Stella singles, walks twice and scores 2 runs.

Game 2 - Long Island Astros 5 Penn Pirates 2  WP Connor Henson

The Astros put the game away with a 4 run 3rd inning as Mike Rahn, AJ Gallo and Eric Wiener deliver run scoring singles and the Astros defeat the Penn Pirates by the score of 5-2. Connor Henson dominates on the mound with a complete game victory against a very talented hitting ballclub so kudos to Connor for holding this team to 2 solo HR's, 6 hits total with 6 K's while allowing 1 BB. AJ Gallo adds 2 singles and also scores 2 runs.

Game 3 - Long Island Astros 2 Capital City 0   WP Nick Petrella

The Astros run their record to 3-0 and are declared NABF Regional Champions securing a spot in the NABF World Series!!! Nick Petrella is nothing short of FANTASTIC in a complete game 9 inning 2-0 shutout victory!!! WOW!!! AJ Gallo leads off the game with a single, steals 2B and scores on a single by PJ Lenz which amazingly is all the Astros need behind the strong right arm of Nick Petrella and tight Astros defense who make all the plays behind him. GREAT effort in a very exciting ballgame.

Game 4 - Penn Pirates 9 Long Island Astros 3  LP Erik Kondak

In a meaningless game the Astros drop a 9-3 decision to the Penn Pirates who gain some revenge as we beat them in game #2 earlier in the regional. The Pirates score 5 runs in the top half of the 1st inning and we are unable to recover from there. Ryan Aloise and Matthew O'Connor combine to throw 7 2/3 innings of relief allowing 4 runs (2 earned).

TEAM: Pitching Report

Game 1 - Oil City (MI) 4 Long Island Astros 3  ND Ryan Aloise LP Connor Henson

All I can say is OH MY! The Astros hold a 3-0 lead after 6 innings as Ryan Aloise is perfect thru 5 innings, Oil City rallies for 3 runs in the bottom half of the 7th and tie the score but in all honesty the Astros should have been out in front by 6 or 7 runs at that point but kept Oil City in the game with their lack of offensive punch and not taking advantage of opportunities. Connor Henson (L) relieves in the 8th allowing an unearned run and Oil City comes away with a 4-3 win and a very difficult loss for the Astros in their opener of the NABF WS in Toledo, OH. Offensively speaking Ryan Rusoff singles twice with an RBI, Mike Rahn doubles with an RBI and Eric Ezersky singles home a run.

Game 2 - Youngstown Glaciers (OH) 3 Long Island Astros 2  LP Nick Petrella

Well, game #2 isn't much better as the Astros drop a tough ballgame to the Glaciers from Youngstown by the final score of 3-2. The Astros just cant put together a crooked number on the scoreboard and can only plate single runs in the first 2 frames while Nick Petrella (L) does all he can on the rubber throwing a solid 8 innings allowing 3 runs (2 earned). Not much with the bats but CJ Gerdowsky singles twice with an RBI.

Game 3 - Long Island Astros 3 Buffalo Leibs 2   WP Matthew O'Connor

The Astros hand the Buffalo Leibs their only pool play loss as Matthew O'Connor (W) hangs in there thru a very efficient 9 innings work and earns the victory in a great ballgame. The Astros trail 2-0 when they bat in the bottom half of the 4th, Nick Lobello singles with one out and steals 2B, he then scores on a Ryan Rusoff 2B who then scores on a Mike Rahn single to tie the game. The Astros plate the winning run in the 6th innings as Nick Lobello leads off with a single for the 2nd of his 3 hits in the game, he is sacrificed to 2B by PJ Lenz, that is followed by a Ryan Rusoff BB, Miuke Rahn is then HBP to load the bases and with 2 out Keith Ezersky is also HBP as the go-ahead run scores, Matthew O'Connor takes it from there and closes out the Buffalo team in a much needed win.

Game 4 - Long Island Astros 5 Youngstown Glaciers (OH) 3  WP Connor Henson

Well, all's well that ends well as the Astros gain some revenge on the Glaciers team with a 5-3 victory as Connor Henson is as game as they come going the distance In a complete game 5-3 Astros victory. The Astros plate 4 runs in a wild 4th inning to take a 5-2 lead and go onto victory from there. In that wild 4th inning the Astros execute 3 bunt plays that score 2 runs and also get a huge 2 run single from Keith Ezersky. The team represented the FABL League and the Astros organization with class and should be very proud of the effort put forward, CONGRATULATIONS team!
