The Astros win the Championship game versus the Lions behind the solid pitching of Mike Bergman (5 2/3 innings / 2 earned) who battles every inning and earns the W! Great job Mike! PJ Lenz comes in the ballgame with the tying run on second base with 2 out in the 6th and induces a ground out and then works the 7th for the save! NICE! At the dish it was Vinnie Carminati who smashes a huge 3 run triple in the 1st inning to get the boys right back in the game after the Lions score 3 runs in the top half of the inning, following the 3 run triple it was Rich Olesen who singles home Vinnie Carminati from 3rd as the Astros go ahead 4-3 after the 1st inning. In the top half of the second inning the Lions answer right back and tie it up at 4 but the Astros answer right back with a run in the bottom half of the second inning as Cam Maron singles home Ryan Rusoff (BB) to put us ahead 5-4 and it turns out to be the deciding & winning run! PJ Lenz who saved the ballgame also singles 3 times and drives home a big insurance run in the 4th inning to make it a 6-4 ballgame, this was a great Championship ballgame which had everyone biting their nails! Great work boys!
