Wednesday 7/11 FABL Astros behind a complete game gem by Andrew Alesi (W 3H / 5K / 1BB) and a 1st inning RBI triple by Warren Kelly tame the LI Lions 1-0 in a true pitchers battle. Tuesday 7/10 FABL Astros lose a tough 2-1 ballgame to the LI Sound as James McKenna (L) throws another brilliant game (7 IP/ 5H/ 7K/ 1ER) but comes up just short as the Sound hand James his 1st loss of the summer season. Congratulations to the Long Island Astros 18U Connie Mack team on a valiant effort in their bid for the Long Island Connie Mack League Championship. The boys come up a wee bit short and fall to the Long Island A's 2 games to none in 2 tough losses that could have very well gone either way. On Friday 8/7 the Astros lose a 2-1 decision in 8 innings as Zach Badanes strikes out 18 A's in a fabulous effort. On Sunday 8/9 Matt Metz does all that he can on the bump but the A's plate 2 in the 1st inning on their way to a 4-2 win that clinch's it. Great season boys as runner-up Champions and division winners with a 16-4 regular season record!

Long Island Astros 18U Boys of Summer team win their quarterfinal playoff game versus LI Cobras on Tuesday 8/11 by the score of 11-3 as Mike Sorbara smashes 2 HR's and Kevin Primm sets the tone early with a 1st inning 3 run blast. The Astros don't fare well in their semifinal playoff as we drop an 8-2 decision to Paveco Black who then continue on and defeat the LI Sound in the Championship game on Wednesday 8/12. Congratulations to the LI Astros on another successful summer season in the Boys of Summer League.

The Astros battled hard and get off to a great start with wins over the Team NY Cardinals (12-4) and Titans (3-1) on Thursday 7/23. The team then faces the Midville Dodgers on Friday 7/24 and lose a hard fought ballgame by the score of 5-2 as the Dodgers tack on 3 runs in the 5th & 6th innings after the Astros tie it up with 2 runs in the top half of the 5th inning. Needing a win to avoid elimination the Astros win their afternoon game on Friday by defeating the Titans by the score of 4-1 and setting up a Saturday Championship game versus the Midville Dodgers with the winner heading off to the NABF World Series in Jackson, Mississippi. The Saturday game is scoreless thru 3 when Midville plates 3 runs in the bottom of the 4th inning, the Dodgers play flawlessly from there and beat us 4-1 earning the NABF qualifier Championship and the right to participate in the World Series. A job well done by Greg Modica and his talented club, congratulation to them and a job well done by our boys albeit just a bit short.

Summer Season update - 2007 SUMMER STATS ARE FINAL, CLICK HERE. The 2007 Astros 16U BOS team finish the season in 3rd place with an outstanding record of 20-9 versus the toughest competition on Long Island! The Astros LICM team also have an outstanding season and finish up in 2nd place overall with a 19-4 record as we lose in the semi-final round of the playoffs. It was a great summer of baseball and all the boys performed marvelously! Thanks goes out to Coach Phil Lenz for all his help this summer as well as to Coach Steve Malin. Thanks to all the parents and the boys who endured and met all the necessary requirements in what was a very successful summer of baseball.

Astros Cam Maron, Ryan Rusoff, Max Tecce, PJ Lenz and Vinnie Carminati (pictured below - left to right) showcase their skills at the Blue Grey Classic Showcase in New Britain Connecticut on Tuesday and Wednesday 8/28/07 & 8/29/07.

The Astros "Boys of Summer" All-Stars (pictured below) shine at Citibank Park on Saturday night (8/18/07) as Ryan Rusoff, PJ Lenz and Cam Maron (left to right) lead their team to an 8-4 victory! PJ is the winning pitcher with a perfect 1-2-3 inning on the mound while driving home 2 runs with a mammoth double. Ryan Rusoff singles home 2 runs and plays solid D at SS & 2B while Cam Maron singles home a run as well!!! NICE!!! Our boys drive home 5 of the 8 runs and represent the Long Island Astros team superbly! (Our 4th All-Star, Max Tecce, was unable to attend)

The Astros spring season comes to an end on Sunday 5/20/07 as our walking wounded limp home and split versus the LI Diamondbacks. We close the books on our 2007 spring season with an 8-4 record and 2nd place finish as the LI Eagles decline our offer to makeup our rainout which would have determined the division winner. CLICK HERE to view FINAL spring team stats! Scroll down to Spring 2007 on the left for all season information!

Spring 2007 highlights - Junior Fair wins 5 out of our 8 games and provides the Astros with a solid pitching performance each and every time out there, GREAT job Junior! Ryan Rusoff who goes down with an elbow injury after 5 games leads the universe in hitting with a .571 average, shares the team lead in 2B's and leads in slugging & OBP, WAY TO GO RYAN! PJ Lenz leads the big club with an ASTOUNDING 20 RBI in 12 games AND also notches 3 saves while dominating on the mound! NICE! Captain Cam Maron is the club leader in runs, hits, and 2B's while also leading his Hicksville Varsity team to a #1 seed in the Nassau Cty. playoff AND is named to the ALL CONFERENCE TEAM! Great accomplishment Cam! Max Tecce plays ALL-WORLD at SS while Dylan Harmon (team leader in BB's / second in batting), Zach Root (second in batting), Ethan Peck (second in RBI) and Vinnie Carminati play solid baseball in every aspect as well.  LINK LINK1 LINK2 LINK3 link4 link5
